Romann Ramshorn is a French photographer, born in 1977 in Brive-la-Gaillarde. As a child, he grew up in Périgord in a house surrounded by nature, with no neighbours, running water or electricity, and the forest as his only horizon. This unusual experience had a profound impact on his imagination and his view of the world.
In 1985, his parents moved to Brive, returning to their original training as advertising photographers. This was followed by an adolescence steeped in urban culture, in the midst of the Hip-Hop era, where music, literature and cinema also played an important role. After graduating in Philosophy in 1999 in Bordeaux, he finally turned to photography, making it his preferred mode of expression.
In 2013, after years of travelling, he returned to Brive, where he also founded his advertising photography studio, Studio Ramshorn.
A photographer who captures the depth of time, his universe, sometimes highly graphic, sometimes grainy, blurred and dark, conceals multiple and irreconcilable tensions.
In September 2021, he published Lueurs Cendrées, a retrospective-style book that poetically evokes the main themes of his work, and in October 2024, Far Spain, an epic journey through the vast Spanish countryside, where time seems to have stood still, as if petrified by the light of a mysterious fire.
He is a member of the Hans Lucas studio in Paris
and the Millenium agency in London.
